Professionalism
Professional: a person with a high level of knowledge or skill in a field. (Merriam Webster Dictionary)*
The life of a professional is easy.
He knows what he does, how he does it and why.
He doesn't panic and isn't overturned by small or large obstacles.
He has a professional attitude and pays attention to every little detail in what he does. Real professionals do their work quickly and reliably, and the result is predictable.
But how does one become a professional? Do you have innate talents?
Luckily no!
I knew a consultant from America who was terrified of public speaking. His boss knew this too, but one day he had the idea to play a prank on his colleague. With some pretense, he lured his employee in front of an audience and introduced him as the speaker of the day! In fact! He also announced that his colleague would give a similar presentation every week!
Of course, the employee was completely overwhelmed. He stuttered, lost his thread and acted very clumsily. He literally went through hell, but a few years later he was hailed as the best speaker in his field! In fact, he even trained others as speakers!
Everyone wanted to be as good as him...
This clearly shows us that professionalism can be achieved through work.
If you have enough courage, perseverance and intention, no task is too big.
However, according to the above definition, knowledge and certain skills are also required for all of this. But these are things that can be achieved with diligence and practice.
If there is no other way, then we have to work out ourselves what the appearance, behavior and attitude of a real professional in our field looks like. This can help tremendously in understanding this state and how to achieve it later.
However, a professional appearance is not enough if there is no skill behind it. You also need to learn to work professionally to achieve top quality. And that's the only way to be successful in the long run.
All the cheap stuff on the market may look good (or not), but the quality is usually very poor. They are "cheaper" in the short term, but not in the long term. You may have to throw it away after a few days or weeks and then buy a new one...
So quality pays off.
And the key to becoming a pro is: practice, practice and practice...
All professionals must go through this. The only difference is in learning speed and persistence.
But if you want it very hard and are diligent and don't give up, one fine day you will become a professional in your field.
The purpose of this artwork is to remind you every day to always strive for professionalism in your activities.
Always try to reach the highest level currently available and constantly work to become even better.
That's how you become a real professional.
Good luck for that!
